Collaborating across the ACT with the Gambling Harm Prevention Community of Practice

Members of the ACT Gambling Support Service (AGSS) team were proud to present at the recent gathering of the Gambling Harm Prevention Community of Practice.

Our very own Paul Townsley and Markus Fischer spoke about the important role our service has to play in supporting the local community.

The Gambling Harm Prevention Community of Practice is a joint initiative of the AGSS and the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission. It creates a structure that allows community and primary health care workers collaborate on gambling harm education, prevention, early intervention, counselling and referral across the ACT.

We were also honoured to welcome Dr Aino Suomi, director of the ANU Centre for Gambling Research, who presented on the topic of “Gambling related harm and its implications for health and wellbeing”.
