Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2020

Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2020

From 19 to 23 October 2020, we joined Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2020. The purpose of the week is to raise awareness about gambling harm and its consequences on our community. The week is also an invitation for people to share their testimonials to inspire hope and optimism in others.

Allstars Celebrity baseball team advocating for gambling harm

On Sunday 18 October our Peer Support Worker, Markus Fischer, joined the Allstars Celebrity baseball game to advocate for gambling harm awareness. “We had a fantastic time. We had interesting conversations about gambling and gambling harm in our community”, he says.

The ACT Gambling Support Service team also visited the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and had the opportunity to talk with the students and deliver useful information and merchandise, as well as presenting a Webinar of Gambling Harms to Students from the Australian National University (ANU).

Our team and friends joined to our social media poetry flash mob and recited various inspirational poems on Facebook to raise awareness about gambling and gambling harm.
