Privacy and confidentiality are of the upmost importance in providing effective and responsible services. The ACT Gambling Support Service (AGSS) is committed to preserving and upholding your rights to privacy and confidentiality.
Some AGSS services allow you to remain anonymous and not provide any personal information. Your practitioner will advise which services cannot proceed without you identifying yourself.
AGSS collects and records information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. Any personal information gathered during the provision of services will remain confidential except where there are legal obligations or safety concerns. Exceptions may include where:
- your service file is subpoenaed by a court;
- failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at serious and imminent risk;
- your prior approval has been obtained to discuss the material with another person (for example, a third party service provider); and/or
- disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law.
To support the analysis of the effectiveness of our services, non-identifiable data is regularly provided to the ACT Government Gambling and Racing Commission.
Clients are encouraged to raise any questions or concerns regarding their privacy and confidentiality with a member of staff.
